SQL Developer - Finance - Ref # 02257

Description :Experienced SQL Developer required to build an SQL database from scratch using different elements of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 taking into consideration the longer term requirements (see below). Whilst knowledge of the NHS is not essential an understanding of how an SQL database can be used in the finance environment to support the analysis and monthly reporting of financial information including the planning and forecasting would be of an advantage. You are required to support the Finance Project Lead and System Analyst to develop a Finance Data Mart from a blank database. To propose the most suitable way to design the database such that the imports and exports meet the departments current functional requirements. To consider how non SQL trained finance staff will be able to interrogate the data within the systems via front end reporting tools. To have a workable finance stand alone data warehouse by end of March with inputs and a standard set of extracted reports for monthly reporting and planning. To create automated feeds into the system using Microsoft Integration Services. To work closely with the Systems Analyst to ensure that there is in house expertise in maintaining the solution long term and that any in house training requirements are identified and addressed. To act as the finance lead during discussions with third parties and suppliers in terms of taking the solution to the next stage. The candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to continually consult with staff at all levels to ensure the solution is workable, meets their needs and is clearly communicated and explained. Background - The Finance Department of this major NHS Trust have procured 25GB of storage on a virtual server and licences for MS windows 2008R2 standard, MS SQL 2008R2 for a proof of concept standalone data warehouse solution. The short term aim being to streamline forecasting, planning and monthly reporting process by creating automated feeds to the database such that analysis and manipulation of data is carried out within the SQL Server and basic and ad hoc reports can be obtained with relative ease. The longer term vision is to automate feeds from and to other operational systems and develop a front end dashboard to facilitate the access to detailed information. START DATE IS JANUARY 9TH BUT YOU MUST BE ABLE TO INTERVIEW WEDNESDAY 21ST OR THURSDAY 22ND DECEMBER.
